Localization (and globalization) can be among the most important strategic initiatives an organization undertakes, yet responsibility for localization often falls to whoever "isn't busy" (or perhaps whoever doesn't look busy is more accurate). At localization industry functions, the most common denominator among localization professionals seems to be that nobody starts out meaning to work in localization, but everyone somehow ends up in localization, loves it, and feels somewhat sheepish about how it all happened.
